Then she started building a nest..... we started to think she might be having a false pregnancy - Benny was of course neutered so knew there was nothing to worry about there!  Even though he was neutered, there had been a certain amount of amorous attention so we wondered if it had confused her...

We were planning on getting her spayed of course, but were letting her settle in and having her jabs done first.  We thought we'd give her a couple more days to see how she went...

So you can imagine our shock to come downstairs to a bed full of bunnies!!! Initially I thought I saw two bunnies, but then we could only see one tiny baby. We didn't like to disturb the litter too much and called the vet to get some advice..

We were told to keep the baby warm (we cranked up the heating) and to keep Benny away from the nest.  This meant keeping Button shut in her cage when we were out, and only supervised access to Benny.... they really missed each other!

We found out from Button's previous owners that she must have had a miniscule of a second's contact with an un-neutered male - but they were so shocked too! We started calling the teeny baby 'Boo' (as it was a surprise!) and sometimes referred to it as The Fraggle!!

We were warned that as it was such a small litter, the baby might not survive, and sadly after four days little Boo passed over Rainbow Bridge... when we were checking the nest more thoroughly we also found another baby that had passed over Rainbow Bridge at birth we think... but at least they were together now...
